Valentina Cameranesi is a translator of materials, objects, and ideas.
Her ceramic vessels abstract the natural: from the shape of a woman’s hips and protruding belly emerges a vase, perfect in its symmetry. In Cameranesi’s hands a container for life can become a vessel for the beautifully dying or already dead, a petal inhabiting the place of an egg.
Her work is as freakish as it is soothing, again, like life itself: containing infinite, variable possibility.
Her creative endeavors, whether expressed in a physical form, a moving image, an invented format or language, melts conflict and tension into unity.
Rather than flatten a feeling to make it fit, she explores every facet of an impulse, understanding that the full picture is always the richest.
